Foreshorten
To portray an object or person as shorter than it actually is to create an illusion of depth.
" The artist used foreshortening to make the person's arm appear to be coming out of the painting."
Fortify
To make a place stronger by building defensive structures.
" The soldiers worked to fortify their position before the enemy's arrival."
Hereditary
Describes a disease or characteristic that is passed down from parent to child through genes.
" The patient was diagnosed with a hereditary disease that ran in their family."
Iatrogenic
Relating to an illness or condition caused by medical examination or treatment.
" The patient developed an iatrogenic infection as a result of the surgical procedure."
Immunization
The process of making a person or animal immune to infection, typically by vaccination.

Impervious
Not allowing liquid to pass through; unable to be affected by.

Impressionism
A style of art that focuses on the impression of a moment rather than a realistic depiction.

Inscrutable
Difficult to understand or interpret; mysterious.

A published false statement that is damaging to a person's reputation.

Arranged in or extending along a straight or nearly straight line.

Malignant
Describes a disease, typically a tumor, that is dangerous and likely to cause harm.

Masthead
The name of a newspaper or magazine at the head of the front page.
" The newspaper's masthead was well-known and respected in the industry."
