Elicit
To evoke or draw out a response, answer, or fact from someone.
" The teacher had to use a variety of creative questions to elicit a response from the shy student."
Empathy
The ability to understand and share the feelings of another.
" The therapist's empathy helped her connect with her patients and understand their problems."
Enervated
Drained of energy or vitality; to cause a person to feel weakened.
" The long, hot day of manual labor left him feeling completely enervated and exhausted."
Excoriated
To severely criticize or reprimand someone; to strip the skin off of a person or animal.
" The politician was excoriated by the media for his controversial comments, with many people demanding his resignation."
Exhibition
A public display of works of art or other items of interest in an art gallery or museum.
" The new art exhibition was a huge success, attracting thousands of visitors from all over the world."
Expressionism
A style of painting that focuses on expressing emotions and feelings rather than depicting reality.
" The artist used expressionism to convey a sense of anxiety and despair in his paintings."
Fatuous
Silly and pointless; foolish and stupid.
" His fatuous comments at the meeting revealed his lack of intelligence and made him look like a fool."
Foreboding
A fearful feeling that something bad is going to happen.
" He had a strong sense of foreboding as he walked through the dark forest alone, as if something was watching him."
Foreshortening
A drawing technique that creates the illusion of depth by shortening lines or objects.
" The artist used foreshortening to make the person's arm appear to be coming out of the painting."
Formative assessment
An assessment that is conducted during a course of study to provide ongoing feedback to students.
" The teacher used formative assessments to track her students' progress and identify areas where they needed more help."
Frieze
A broad, horizontal band of sculpted or painted decoration, especially on a wall near the ceiling.
" The frieze on the ancient Greek temple depicted a scene from a famous battle."
Gaslighting
A form of psychological manipulation that makes a person question their own sanity or reality.
" The manipulative partner was a master of gaslighting, making her partner doubt his own memories and perceptions of events."
Giga
A prefix representing a unit of measurement equal to one billion (10^9).
